Deputy Principal

Piwakawaka Whanau
Everyday I come to school is not the same as the day before. That is the best part of being a teacher. I have had that privilege for more than twenty years. I have taught in every area of the primary levels and my absolute favourite is the five year olds. I enjoy their freshness and their openness to learning and everything they bring with that. When I’m not at school I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring different places in our beautiful country.
Year 2 / 3 - Paige Taqea paiget@kaingaroa.co.nz
Kea Whanau
My name is Paige Taqea. I have been a teacher at Kaingaroa School for almost 10 years. I grew up here in the Far North and returned home, upon finishing University. When not at school I am a mum to a 7-year-old boy Peni and a wife to my husband of 3 years Meli. We enjoy all the things our beautiful home has to offer, including fishing, gardening, spending time with friends and family and being involved in our local rugby clubs. I am very excited to be the teacher for Kea Whānau this year and look forward to connecting with whānau.
Year 3/4/5 - Talia Rogers
Kotare Whanau
I'm Talia Rogers, a beginning teacher who graduated at the end of 2023. Starting my teaching career at Kaingaroa school is especially meaningful to me, as this community has supported me throughout the years. It's a place where I've consistently felt welcomed and at home. Having grown up in the far north, I attended Kaingaroa school as a student and returned in 2022 for a university placement in Huia Whanau. In my free time, I enjoy fishing, camping, and exploring new horizons through travel. I am ready for a fun year of learning, growth, and laughter with Kōrate whanau.

Nā tō rourou, nā taku rourou, ka ora ai te iwi.
With your food basket, and my food basket, the people will thrive.
I am excited to work together with the tamariki and wider community of Tūī whānau this year. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and I look forward to connecting with you to help our children thrive and learn.

I have been teaching for over 18 years. I was born and grew up in Hawkes Bay, Wairoa. I have spent 14 years in Australia with my Whanau and decided to move back to NZ in 2022. My husband and 17 year old reside in Taipa where my husband's Whanau are from. My older children, Kohi, 23 and Keriana 26 still live in Australia. My Whanau and I love all water activities. I love sports, especially cricket. I am very humbled and excited to work with the Kaingaroa students staff and wider community. Nga mihi nui, Lyn Poharama
